Three tails started moving almost simultaneously.

Within seconds, the solemn little scene was over and they were puppies again.

Teddy wanted attention.

Benny wanted to investigate something beneath the pew.

Faith followed the volunteer toward the aisle.

That transition made everyone smile.

Back at the rescue center, their personalities continue becoming clearer.

Faith loves soft toys and has developed a habit of carrying one to her bed before resting. Benny prefers anything involving food and problem-solving. Teddy seems happiest when a person sits on the floor with him.

Their sleeping arrangements are changing too. Initially, all three wanted to sleep pressed closely together. Now they frequently choose separate parts of the same resting area.

Sometimes Faith sleeps alone on a blanket while Benny and Teddy remain nearby.

Other times Teddy chooses a bed by himself.

That willingness to rest independently is another positive developmental sign.

Their interactions with potential adopters have also begun.

Because puppies can become overly excited when meeting unfamiliar people, we keep introductions calm. Visitors are encouraged to sit quietly and allow each dog to approach independently.

This gives families an opportunity to see their different personalities rather than simply seeing three excited puppies competing for attention.

Faith often observes first.

Benny investigates carefully.

Teddy usually walks straight over.

Then, given enough time, all three settle.

Our goal is not simply to get these puppies adopted as quickly as possible. We want placements that make sense long after the excitement of bringing home a new dog has faded.

Young dogs require patience, training, exercise, veterinary care, structure, and a great deal of consistency. Their future families need to understand that.

For now, Faith, Benny, and Teddy still have each other.

They wake up together.

They play.

They occasionally steal each other's toys.

They learn independently.

Then, after enough activity, they somehow find their way back toward one another and fall asleep.

Soon, that may change.

One puppy may leave first.

Then another.

Eventually, the space they once shared may become empty because all three have families of their own.

Until then, we will continue preparing them for that day.

And we will probably keep thinking about those few quiet seconds inside the church—the stained-glass light, the empty wooden pews, and three little rescue dogs sitting side by side with their tiny paws together and their faces turned upward.

They were not really praying for homes.

But there are plenty of us doing the hoping for them.

Faith, Benny, and Teddy are safe tonight. They are healthy, cared for, and learning that the world can be gentle.

Now they just need the families who will make sure they never have to wonder where they belong again.
