When Maya finished, she asked to speak to Captain Rebecca Daniels in the flight deck after landing. The captain had flown commercial aircraft for twenty years and still insisted that every report begin with a description of the observed facts rather than a judgment about the people involved. She listened without interrupting, except to clarify whether the seat had already been reassigned when the passenger reached the gate. Maya told her the time she had heard from Carol, then admitted she had witnessed similar behavior before and stayed silent.

"Is the passenger all right?" Captain Daniels asked. "She's in 31F," Maya answered. "She says she's fine, but I don't think that makes what happened acceptable." Daniels nodded.

"And the supervisor?" Maya gave his name. The captain's expression sharpened. "Gary Whitlock. That's the third report with that name I've seen this year."

"Three reports?" Maya repeated. Daniels tapped the edge of the tablet. "Three that crossed my desk, at least. They don't all come through my aircraft. Put your name on yours, Maya, and I'll send it to operations in Atlanta myself."

Maya hesitated one last time. "It might go straight back to his manager." Daniels looked at her. "Then we'll document that too."

By the time the aircraft began its descent, Imani had annotated all fourteen complaint files and written a separate page about the morning. She put her pen away and looked out at the clouds breaking below the wing. Her phone would soon regain service, and Tasha would ask whether everything had gone smoothly. Imani knew there was a much more important question to ask: would the airline preserve the records before somebody decided the problem belonged to a person who no longer mattered?

When the plane reached Atlanta, Imani waited while the families around her collected their bags. She was the last passenger in her row to stand, partly because she disliked pushing through an aisle and partly because she wanted one more look at the cabin where she had spent the journey. In the forward section, Preston Hale was standing beneath the overhead bins, talking loudly about the excellent service he had received. He paused when he saw Imani, but recognition did not yet turn into understanding.

At the aircraft door, Maya thanked Imani for flying with Skyline. Imani gave her a small smile. "You did the right thing, Maya. Whatever happens next, remember that." Maya nodded, uncertain why the words felt more consequential than they should. Behind her, Captain Daniels appeared at the doorway with the incident report already forwarded to operations and a delivery receipt in her email.

Tasha met Imani outside baggage claim carrying a slim laptop instead of a sign. She took one look at Imani's face and stopped making the cheerful greeting she had prepared. "How was the flight?" she asked. Imani handed her the boarding pass for 31F. "Instructive," she said. "Where are we on the B14 footage?"
