“Not at all, sir. My apologies. It’s great to be working with you. I heard you were the principal over at Davenport Prep School. Wow, that’s really impressive.” “Yes, that is a top-tier private school. I’ll have to pick your brain on how you manage the finances. We don’t have a lot of money here.” “Of course, I’m here to help.”

“Don’t take it personally. Principal Carr isn’t really the smiling type.” “So, Annie, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?” “Okay. Well, me and my family just moved here, and I’m really excited for this new school. I’m really into music. I love fashion, and I’m really into cheer.”

“Who do they have you cheering for? The players who got cut?” “Now, Macy, you know full well we don’t make remarks like that in this class.” “Sorry. It’s just I’m the cheer captain and I have a hard time believing she’d make the cut.”

“Well, believe it. Because Annie was formerly the cheer captain of Davenport Prep School and last year took them all the way to the Nationals.” “Well, it was a team effort.” “I thought I recognized her. She thinks she can just come in here and steal my crown? She’s got another thing coming.”

“This is your office? Which as you can see is right next to mine. So I’ll have my eye on you.” “Principal Vickers, if this is about your parking spot—” “No, this is about how this is my school. I’m the one that makes decisions around here, not you. I don’t care what fancy prep school you came from. Yeah, I don’t want you swooping in trying to take my job.”

“That is not my intention.” “So you say. But regardless, you’ll fall in line. If you want to keep your job, that is. I’ll have you know I have a lot of sway with the school board.”

“You got room for one more?” “Just ’cause we’re at a new school doesn’t mean we have to change our tradition.” “Thanks, sis.” “Oh my god. Those two are related? Freak must run in the family.”

“Hey, you must be Annie. I’m Ms. Hatcher. I’m the cheer coach here at Brookside. I really hope you’ll consider trying out for the team.” “Oh, well, Ms. Hatcher, she can’t do that. We’ve got a full team.”

“Well, we can always expand the roster for someone with Annie’s talents. I really hope you’ll consider joining.” “Thanks. I’ll think it over.” “Don’t think too hard. You better think real hard because I won’t have anybody threatening my position.”

“Since you mentioned money issues, I’d be happy to look into it.” “That would be great. I’ll send you the financials this afternoon.” “That won’t be necessary. I have all that covered.” “Wouldn’t another set of eyes on it be helpful?”

“Carol, can you excuse us? What did I tell you about trying to go over my head?” “I’m not going over your head. I need to be privy to the financial information. It’s part of my job.” “Your job is to do what I tell you to do.” “I understand. I’ll leave the finances to you.” “Good. That’s the first sensible thing you’ve said today.”

“I’m sorry. Being new. Recently moved.” “Oh, honey, don’t say that. There’s nothing to apologize for.” “But Annie was the most popular girl at school. And you were the principal. I ruined everything.”

“You did not. Besides, starting over can be fun. We get to meet new people, and that’s never a bad thing.” “But what if I don’t fit in?” “You will. Besides, you’ve got me and Boxy. And didn’t you say you made a new friend in class?”

“Well, a girl was nice to me.” “See? And who knows? She might even want to kiss you.” “Ew!”

“That dumb little boy is so annoying with his stupid little plushy. That stupid girl is going to try to one-up me on my squad. And their mother is gunning for my job. We got to do something to put them in their place.” “Yeah. And make them want to leave the school, and make them want to leave the entire state.” “Don’t worry, girls. I have something in mind.”

“New LankyBox video?” “Oh my gosh. Justin doesn’t know that the noob he’s playing with is actually Adam in his secret room. He’s going to freak when he finds out.” “Well, it’s nice to finally see you smiling for once.” “This is the only time I do smile.”

“Annie, is something wrong with me?” “Kevin, there’s nothing wrong with you. You’re just a little shy, that’s all.”
