Photograph.

Name.

Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Special Agent.

Ror stopped breathing for a second.

Keaton saw his face.

“What?”

Ror did not answer.

Keaton stepped closer.

Bellamy looked over Ror’s shoulder.

The air changed.

It was almost physical.

Ror looked from the credential to Darius.

Back to the credential.

Then Darius.

Bellamy released his arms.

Nobody told him to.

Darius turned slowly.

Cuffs still on.

“Are you finished?”

Ror found his voice.

“This was a lawful stop.”

“No.”

“We observed suspicious—”

“No.”

“You were—”

“Sergeant.”

Darius did not raise his voice.

“You saw me carrying boxes from a registered vehicle into a house I own.”

Ror’s mouth closed.

“I gave you a license matching the property address.”

Silence.

“I gave you the recorded deed.”

Keaton looked down.

“Your officer ran my vehicle and confirmed it was clean.”

Darius continued.

“You asked to search.”

Pause.

“I said no.”

He looked toward the open SUV.

“You searched anyway.”

Then his phone on the hood.

“You demanded access to my phone.”

Then the cuffs.

“You detained me for refusing consent.”

Ror said:

“We had officer-safety concerns.”

“Identify one.”

Ror said nothing.

“One observable fact.”

Nothing.

Darius looked toward the house.

“The garage camera has recorded this driveway since before you arrived.”

Keaton’s eyes moved immediately toward the garage.

Darius continued:

“The SUV has exterior recording capability.”

Ror’s face changed again.

“And there are witnesses.”

Harold remained visible through his front window.

Darius looked back at Ror.

“None of what happened here depends on my memory.”

Ror tried again.

“We responded to suspicious activity.”

“There was no call.”

Ror stopped.

Darius said:

“I watched your unit drive past.”

Silence.

“You reversed.”

Darius’s voice stayed quiet.

“You initiated contact.”

Keaton’s face went pale.

Darius looked at the sergeant’s nameplate.

“Gavin Ror.”

Then:

“Unit 74.”

Ror’s eyes sharpened.

Darius continued:

“I know that designation.”

Nobody moved.

“It appears in seven complaint files already under preliminary federal review.”

Keaton whispered:

“What?”

Darius turned slightly toward him.

“Seven.”

Then back to Ror.

“Four years.”

Ror’s mouth opened.

Darius did not allow him to interrupt.

“Similar stops.”

His words came methodically.

“Similar escalation after documentation clears.”

“Similar searches.”

“Similar obstruction language.”

“Similar report language.”

Ror’s face had lost most of its color.

Darius finished:

“And as of today, the number is eight.”

The irony was not that they had stopped an FBI agent.

Darius hated that framing later.

The real significance was narrower.

Unit 74 had reproduced the allegations already under review, almost step by step, in front of cameras.

Ror finally understood.
