Jackie, a beloved bald eagle from Big Bear's famous pair, died weeks after being rescued despite intensive treatment.

BIG BEAR, Calif. — Jackie the eagle, half of Big Bear's famous bald eagle pair, has died, the Ojai Raptor Center announced Monday. 

Jackie and her mate Shadow are the focus of a viral livestream, hosted by the Friends of Big Bear Valley, that shows their daily lives at their nest. A few weeks ago, she was found injured and swimming in Big Bear Lake. She was rescued and taken in for treatment roughly three weeks ago. 

"Over the past several days, her condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment and the combined efforts of our veterinary team and consulting specialists," the center posted to Facebook. "She remained critically ill, receiving oxygen therapy, supportive treatment, and around-the-clock monitoring in our intensive care unit."

Her remains were sent to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. 

"We know this news will be deeply felt by the many thousands of people around the world who have followed her journey, hoped alongside us, prayed for her, and supported the people caring for her," the center wrote. "Our team is heartbroken. It has been an extraordinary privilege to care for her."

The federal and state Department of Fish and Wildlife will release a statement about her treatments and test results at a later time.
