What gets really interesting is that my lawyer managed to dig up that Karen was the one with a history of mental illness. I cannot remember what it was called exactly, but it made her an unreliable witness to the events. She was now being seen as the unstable one and had nothing left of an argument to get me thrown in jail.
The judge found that I was not guilty of assault and told Karen that she was very lucky. She could have faced serious charges of kidnapping, child endangerment and possibly even child abuse. I felt that having to stay in the neighborhood was a worse punishment for Karen than just being sent to prison on those charges.
Everybody knew what she had done and the small reputation she had was now totally ruined. Nobody wanted to speak to Karen and instead spit on the ground when she would pass by calling her a baby thief and just a constant barrage of hate. I personally saw that her car had been keyed at least twice by people. She was a complete social outcast and for somebody with the ego and entitlement of Karen, that was worse than prison.
With this, there was no end date and even if she moved, people could look her up and find out exactly what happened.
My neighbors rent their lower suite to their adult daughter, her partner and their kid. The daughter has main character syndrome, has yelled at me to stop doing work outside repeatedly and even called the bylaws on me for cutting my grass at 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday and more. She also refuses to help her senior parents do their yard work, so I continue to cut half their lawn and completely care for the area below their retaining wall.
I mean, it’s no biggie. It’s literally a quarter the size of my front yard and flat. Daughter dearest, however, has continued to scream at me anytime I pull out the mower or trimmer, and well, it’s aggravating to say the least. At the end of May, she lost her mind for me mowing the lower area of the yard and screamed at me to stop threatening to call the cops.
So let me tell you, I did exactly that and I stopped. Then I sent my neighbor a lovely text explaining that her daughter was clearly distressed and asked me to stop and now each week I mow to the property line but no further and that yard has gotten bad.
Last week, daughter dearest asked me if I could start mowing their lawn again because her mom was really mad. I declined. I said it’s too loud and I might get in trouble again. Well, today she was out there manhandling a huge gas mower down nine stairs and took twenty-five minutes to mow what takes me three minutes before struggling to get the mower back up.
