"Thank you for coming," Alexander began. He did not stand at the head of the table like a man preparing to announce quarterly earnings. He remained beside the window for a moment, looking at the people responsible for the company he owned. "We're here because one of our passengers was removed from a first-class seat despite a valid reservation. That passenger was treated disrespectfully, and the documentation we have so far does not support the reason given for removing her."

Caroline straightened. "Mr. Bennett, if I may, there were concerns about cooperation. Cabin crew have a responsibility to maintain an orderly boarding process."

"We will hear your account," Alexander said. "We will hear every relevant account. But first I want everybody in this room to understand the timeline without adjectives."

Denise projected the gate record. At 8:14 a.m., Olivia's pass had been scanned successfully. At 8:19, Richard had first opened the passenger manifest. At 8:21, the cabin supervisor had been notified. There was no seat conflict, no duplicate assignment, and no reservation alert at any point.

"That is what the systems recorded," Denise said. "Now we'll play the passenger video and hear what witnesses said. We have their permission to use these materials for the internal review."

The first video was shaky but clear enough to show Olivia seated by the window with her boarding pass held upright. Richard asked about an upgrade. Caroline leaned toward her. Olivia replied in the same quiet tone she had used throughout the encounter, asking why she was being questioned when the reservation had already been confirmed.

Alexander's hands closed around the notebook. He had seen the video twice already, but watching it in front of his senior leadership team brought a different kind of anger. Each time his mother was given a reasonable answer, the flight crew introduced another condition. The conditions seemed to exist only because Caroline would not accept the original answer.

The second recording had been made by Emily Foster, who sat across the aisle. It captured Caroline's remark about first-class passengers having certain expectations and Olivia asking whether those expectations included a particular kind of clothing or skin color. It also showed Emily attempting to intervene and being told to remain seated. The recording ended before Olivia walked to economy, but the written witness statement completed the sequence.

"I want to understand something," Alexander said to Caroline when the screen went dark. "What information did you have that indicated my mother's seat assignment was invalid?"

Caroline blinked. The word mother had reached her before the question did. "Your mother's seat?"

Alexander allowed the silence to stretch for a moment. "Yes. Olivia Bennett is my mother. The passenger you removed from seat 2A yesterday."
