Even Steven looked at his mother with renewed respect.

But he did not dismiss the matter.

He turned back to Ashley.

“My mother may forgive you, but what happened today is still serious. You did not only insult her. You violated the basic values this restaurant claims to represent.”

Then he looked around at the staff.

“We serve people. Respect is not something we reserve for wealthy guests. Kindness is not a luxury service. No personal prejudice should decide who feels welcome inside these walls.”

Ashley lowered her head again.

Steven looked back at Mary.

“Come on, Mom. Let me find you a proper table so we can finally have dinner together.”

Mary rose.

As Steven escorted her toward a beautiful table near the window, Ashley remained standing beside the kitchen entrance.

For the first time in years, she understood clearly that the true value of a person could not be read from clothing, age, jewelry, or status.

The incident did not end there.

After making sure his mother was comfortable, Steven gathered the restaurant staff in a private meeting room.

The atmosphere was tense.

Employees exchanged nervous looks while Steven stood before them with an expression far more serious than usual.

Ashley stayed near the back, her hands cold and her heart pounding.

Steven allowed the room to remain silent for several moments before speaking.

“I want everyone to understand that this meeting is not simply about criticizing one employee. This is an opportunity for all of us to ask what is happening inside Lumiere.”

He looked around the room.

“We serve people. The core of this work is respect.”

Then his gaze settled on Ashley.

“Today, one of our longest-serving employees made a serious mistake. But this should force every one of us to ask whether we have become too focused on appearances, money, and social status. Have we forgotten that every customer who enters this restaurant deserves kindness?”

Ashley felt every word.

Steven continued.

“We do not merely serve expensive food. We create an experience that should make every guest feel welcome and valued. If we lose that, we lose the part of Lumiere that matters most.”

Several employees lowered their eyes.

Some of them knew they had made similar judgments, even if they had never acted as openly as Ashley had.

Ashley finally stood.

Her legs trembled, but her voice was clearer than she expected.
