That surprised Holloway more than cheering would have.

The silence was heavier.

He looked toward Priya. “You can’t do this in a ballroom.”

Priya answered evenly. “Your written notice is in the executive office. You have been provided access to counsel information and instructions regarding company property. The termination decision was authorized before this event began.”

Holloway’s eyes moved rapidly between faces, searching for an ally.

He found Ryan Shaw.

“Tell them,” Holloway said. “Tell them the service charges were approved operational offsets.”

Shaw looked away.

Holloway stared at him. “Ryan.”

Samuel said, “Mr. Shaw has been placed on administrative suspension pending completion of the procurement and financial review.”

Shaw’s face turned white.

Holloway began shaking his head. “This is insane. Those linen contracts saved this property money.”

The forensic accountant opened a folder.

Samuel did not let him speak yet.

“We have verified invoice inflation, related-party concerns involving Oakwell Textile Services, and unexplained vendor credits. That evidence will be reviewed by outside counsel and, where appropriate, referred to the relevant authorities.”

Holloway stepped toward Samuel.

“You’ll regret this, old man.”

Luis moved immediately, but Samuel raised a hand.

“No threats are necessary,” Samuel said. “Not from you. Not from us.”

Holloway looked around the ballroom at the employees he had spent three years teaching to lower their eyes.

Most were looking directly at him now.

That seemed to enrage him more than the termination.

“You think these people are loyal to you?” he said. “They’re loyal to whoever signs the checks.”

“No,” Samuel replied. “They were loyal to this hotel despite what you did to them. That is why you lasted as long as you did.”

Holloway turned toward the door.

Luis stepped aside and gestured toward the main lobby.

“Front door, Mr. Holloway.”

Holloway glared at him.

Luis’s voice remained professional. “Unlike the way you treated other people, we’re going to let you leave with dignity.”

For one dangerous second, Samuel thought Holloway might make another scene.

Instead, he straightened his jacket and walked through the ballroom under five hundred silent eyes.

Luis followed at a respectful distance.

No one threw coins at Holloway’s feet.

No one insulted his clothes.

No one called him garbage.

That mattered to Samuel.

Accountability was not imitation.
