The three of them believed that the incident on the flight the day before had been handled according to the safety and professionalism standards that Summit Airlines always emphasized. They had no idea, or perhaps had never realized, that the real issue lay in their own arrogance and inherent prejudice toward someone different.
Once everyone was seated, the door to the conference room closed decisively. Alexander slowly turned around, his gaze sharp, scanning the faces in the room. He remained silent for a few seconds, causing everyone to hold their breath in anticipation.
The silence only heightened Caroline and her colleagues' excitement, as they thought Alexander was preparing to offer special praise. However, instead of compliments, Alexander's voice broke the silence, cold and stern, shattering the hopes that had risen in the three flight attendants.
"I did not call this meeting today to praise anyone. On the contrary, I am here to address a serious incident that occurred on a Summit Airlines flight yesterday, an incident that has deeply disappointed me and raised serious questions about the workplace culture we are building here."
Alexander's voice was icy, each word he spoke weighing heavily on the shoulders of those present. Caroline was momentarily stunned, her smile fading instantly, replaced by an expression of confusion she could hardly hide. Richard and Diane exchanged uneasy glances, a mix of fear and uncertainty creeping in.
Alexander continued, his tone growing more resolute. "I have been fully briefed on what happened yesterday on the flight from Denver to Boston. An elderly female passenger was treated with extreme disrespect and forced to leave her legitimate first-class seat for an unacceptable reason: prejudice and discrimination."
Caroline sat motionless, her face turning pale. Richard swallowed hard, while Diane tried to lower her gaze, avoiding Alexander's piercing stare. They were beginning to understand that this meeting was not an opportunity for praise, but rather a trial for themselves.
Alexander looked directly at Caroline, his gaze cold enough to pierce through her. "Ms. Caroline, do you recognize who the woman you insulted was?"
Caroline stammered in response, her voice filled with confusion. "Mr. Bennett, I... I didn't know. I was just following the airline's protocol, ensuring that all passengers—"
Alexander immediately cut her off, his voice stern. "Which protocol allows you to disrespect a legitimate passenger? Which protocol says you can question and force a passenger to leave their seat simply because their appearance and skin color do not meet your standards?"
Caroline fell silent, unable to answer. The entire room now turned its attention to the three of them, the silence weighing down on everyone.
