That was all Kesha asked. Airport operations eventually ordered all passengers off Flight 847 so police and company safety personnel could preserve the cabin and complete interviews without the pressure of departure. The announcement produced groans, but far fewer than before. Nobody wanted to be recorded complaining about Kesha now.
That shift angered her more than the earlier hostility. As passengers gathered bags, the elderly woman in pearls stopped beside seat 2A. Her name, Kesha later learned, was Evelyn Harper. She looked seventy-five, elegant and carefully composed, with a cream scarf folded over one arm.
"Mrs. Thompson," she began.
Kesha looked up. Evelyn's eyes moved toward the baby.
"I owe you an apology."
Kesha waited.
"I made comments."
"I heard them."
Evelyn winced.
"I thought I understood what was happening."
"You didn't ask."
"No."
"Would you be apologizing if my husband weren't Marcus Thompson?"
The question stopped her. Evelyn's mouth opened slightly. Kesha watched the answer happen before the woman spoke.
"I don't know."
Kesha nodded.
"Then that's the part you should think about."
Evelyn looked down.
"You're right."
She left without asking forgiveness. Kesha respected that more than a longer apology. Blake Stanton did not apologize. He avoided eye contact while leaving the aircraft.
Aaron Patel stopped at the aisle.
"Mrs. Thompson?"
"Yes?"
"I'm Aaron Patel. I work in aviation risk. I posted about this while it was happening. I want you to know I documented times and statements, and I'll provide everything to police and your company if requested."
Kesha looked at him.
"Did you record the slap?"
"No. But I recorded what happened after."
"Thank you."
Aaron nodded.
"For what it's worth, I didn't know who you were either."
Kesha almost smiled.
"That's worth more."
He understood. Maya Chen waited until most passengers had left. She looked younger without the phone between herself and the moment.
"I streamed it."
"I know."
"At first the comments were awful."
"I assumed."
