Sandra folded her hands.

"I was confirming the cabin."

"Did you ask the passenger in 1D whether he knew he was in first class?"

"I don't know."

"We have boarding video. You did not."

Sandra's attorney shifted. Marlowe continued.

"Did you ask the white couple in row 3?"

"No."

"Why Mrs. Thompson?"

"She had an infant."

"What does an infant have to do with whether a passenger knows her cabin assignment?"

Sandra said nothing. Marlowe moved to the bottle.

"Did company policy prohibit warm water during boarding?"

"Crew workload can make service unavailable."

"That isn't what I asked."

"No."

"Did Elena Cruz violate policy by assisting Mrs. Thompson?"

"No."

"Then why did you tell Mrs. Thompson, 'We're not a nursery'?"

Sandra's jaw tightened.

"I was frustrated."

"With what?"

"The baby was crying. Boarding was busy."

"Babies cry."

"Yes."

"Was the crying a safety violation?"

"Not by itself."

"Did Mrs. Thompson refuse to sit when instructed?"

Sandra tried to qualify the answer. Marlowe played the video. Sandra: Sit down. Kesha: If you need me seated, I will sit.

Then Kesha sitting.

"Did she comply?"

"At that moment, yes."

"At what later moment did she refuse?"

Sandra searched the timeline. There was none. Marlowe reached the slap last. Sandra's defense had changed slightly since the airport.

She now described Kesha's protective hand movement as a sudden gesture she perceived as threatening. Marlowe slowed the video frame by frame. Kesha leaning forward for the bottle. Sandra stepping into her space.

Kesha raising her forearm between Sandra and Zoe. Sandra striking.

"Were you afraid Mrs. Thompson intended to hit you?"
