Elena looked back at Reuben.
“Service was being arranged.”
Reuben’s face darkened.
“You cannot use this theater to—”
“This isn’t theater.”
Elena’s tone hardened.
“You arrived at the exact address where my client works after she repeatedly instructed you not to contact her.”
Reuben stopped.
“And now,” Elena continued, “you’re doing it in front of witnesses.”
Grizzly smiled faintly.
“Lots of those.”
Reuben looked around the room.
For the first time, he seemed to understand what he had walked into.
Not because the men were dangerous.
Because he no longer controlled the narrative.
He looked at Samantha.
“You planned this.”
“No.”
She almost laughed.
“That’s the worst part for you, isn’t it?”
Reuben stared.
“I didn’t plan anything.”
She gestured around.
“You came here because you thought everybody in this building was beneath you.”
His face hardened.
“You walked in alone because you thought your name would do the work.”
Silence.
Samantha’s voice remained calm.
“You were wrong.”
Elena stepped closer.
“You need to leave.”
Reuben looked at her.
“You think one filing changes my life?”
